CUSTOM LAMINATION
Real Life Prosthetics creates and designs custom lamination for orthotic and prosthetic devices when something more personable is wanted instead of the traditional colors.
A custom lamination may be chosen in part to reflect an individual's personality on their prosthetic or orthotic device. Sometimes the decision to wear it depends on how the device looks in the end. We frequently observe this in kids, who may have everything from superheroes to their favorite animation characters on their finished prosthetic or orthotic devices.
Kevin D.
Unilateral Hip Disarticulation
In 1974, Kevin was diagnosed with bone cancer in his leg. He was 5-years old at the time of his amputation surgery, which was the standard treatment at that time. From that point on, he grew up wearing a prosthesis.
"With very few exceptions, there is nothing you will be prevented from doing. You may not do it the same as everyone else does, but if you want to do something, you'll find a way to do it."

REAL LIFE PROSTHETICS
IN-HOUSE FABRICATION
Real Life Prosthetics takes pride in its in-house fabrication process, encompassing the production of both orthotic devices and prosthetic sockets, including the creation of foam coverings for enhanced protection. Our technical team boasts decades of experience, demonstrating an unwavering commitment to delivering truly customized devices.
Our dedicated technical team embraces challenges, consistently going above and beyond to meet unique patient needs. Collaborating seamlessly with the clinical team, they often develop hybrid devices that merge cutting-edge technology with personalized solutions. This collaborative approach ensures that our orthotic and prosthetic devices not only fit precisely but also address individual needs, reflecting our commitment to innovation and comprehensive patient care at Real Life Prosthetics.
Amidst the era of mass production, our methodology is distinctly hands-on, yielding truly customized prostheses. It's an artistry that often goes unnoticed-- a personal touch embedded into each device by our practitioners.
This image offers just a peek into the intricate process of modifying a residual limb casting (hip disarticulation) before the technical team begins fabrication of the test socket.
Beveling the edges of a prosthesis, which involves creating a slight slope or angle in the trim lines, helps in achieving a smooth and seamless transition rom the prosthetic to the surrounding skin.

DIRECT SOCKET TT AND TF BY ÖSSUR
Minimizes the time between Initial Evaluation and Delivery of Prosthetic for streamlined Amputee Rehabilitation
The Direct Socket by Ossur is another fabrication option from the cast and plaster typically used by our practitioners. Using this method, the socket is fabricated directly on your residual limb, followed by minimal grinding on trim lines, adding componentry and ensuring proper alignment, you are walking out the same day with your custom prosthesis!
